Within a couple of chapters, we enter into the world of Katerina Rowe, aka Kat, a Deacon in her tiny village of Eyam, Derbyshire, and Beth Walters, aka Mouse, a young girl doing escort jobs to raise money to travel the world. After so long I read a mystery novel of sleuth sub-genre, and that too such an pleasurable read. I can't go into much detail, hence the vagueness.If I have to write a one line review for this book I’ll say it’s a breath of fresh air in the present gloomy, mundane crime fiction weather. And throughout this there are a few more instances where virtual castration would've been warranted. Then they're not and hospitals become involved. Then they love each other and try to be happy. They hate each other and violence ensues. It was also like a train wreck, in which you just couldn't take your eyes off of it. I could compare pretty much the last 30-ish percent of this book to attempting to navigate through a minefield. And this sets off a whole new set of obstacles and events Deuce and Eva have to get through. And when Deuce's club has a confrontation with Eva's club to retaliate against Frankie for some bit o'crazy he pulled you see just how far Frankie is willing to go to keep Eva. Now, you get angry at Deuce and at times you even hate Deuce, but Frankie scares you. And Frankie, becomes psychotically obsessed with her.

This, pretty effectually, pushes her into the arms of the now full fledged psychopath Frankie. Which is why it is another two years before they see each other, and this time is entirely by pure stupid luck. He's also insanely violent - insane being the operative word here. He immediately becomes entirely dependent on Eva and extremely overprotective of her. He is the son of a fellow biker who was killed in the "line of duty" who Eva's father took in. Yes, I will wholeheartedly say that reading that and knowing that this was going to be a love story made me cringe and say quite a few internal "eeAlso, in the interim you're brought a little bit deeper into her life, namely you're introduced to a little psychopath in the making, also known as Frankie. You are also introduced to the fact that there is an 18 year age gap, being that she is 5 and he is 23 when they first met. You're brought into their world pretty much immediately. You first meet Eva and Deuce while they are visiting their respective fathers in jail. That her undeniable love is the one thing he can’t live without. Himself-a man worthy of love-and Eva spends her lifetime proving to him Their twisted journey is filled with pain, betrayal, and bloodshed thatĬould tear them apart. Fate continues to bring them together time and time again, but
